Resolving a Resource Conflict

To resolve the resource conflict, you can use the Device Manager or the BIOS Setup Utility.

Using the Device Manager

To open the Device Manager:

1. Click Start.
2. Move the cursor to Settings, and then click Control panel.
3. Double-click System.
4. Click the Device Manager tab.

For details about the device, select the device and click Properties. General information as well as information on drivers and resources is displayed. For example, from the "Driver" window, you can see the device driver version, and you can update the driver.

If there is an X on the left side of the device, the device is disabled. To enable the device, select it and click Properties. You can see whether the device can be enabled. To change the default configuration setting, click Resources.

If ! is on the left side of the device, the device has a problem. To resolve the problem, select the device and click Properties.

Using the BIOS Setup Utility

The system resources you can allocate are found in the Advanced Setup submenu of the Config menu. Do as follows:

1. Save your work.
2. Shutdown and restart the computer.
3. While the ThinkPad logo is being displayed, wait for the BIOS Utility entry prompt before pressing F1.
4. Select Config and press Enter.
5. Select Advanced Setup and press Enter.
6. Select the desired submenu and press Enter; then change the settings accordingly.
